I've spent nearly an hour trying to start this post. Type, backspace, type, backspace... It has never happened before. I am bewildered and even more determined to post something before dawn breaks.

Anyway, I've been trying to tackle the subject of conscience after reading some disturbing local news. And my mind goes totally blank. When I try to put down what it was that rankled me so much, my fingers tremble. They refuse to cooperate. Perhaps my blog has a spirit that prevents me from 'glorifying' the details of the horrid deed I read in the papers. Perhaps it's my own spirit that rebels against making such heinous crimes part of my memory.

Try as I may, I really can't bring myself to elaborate even though what I really want to do is to post the witch's photo online after I scar her with photoshop. And pour kerosene, throw a lighted match on the very shop that dared to rationalise the handsome profits they glean from 'helping' some poor villagers find their daughters better lives abroad.

It's true. When conscience pricks but goes constantly unheeded, it dies a slow death. In its place, evil prospers and worms its way into the host human's consciousness, and then extends its parasitic hold onto those hapless souls who happen to cross its path. Ultimately, the parasite gets the host as well - if that's any consolation.
