[cont'd from previous post]

Yes you guessed it! The story goes downhill for Betsy from there.

Wily Farmer Brown (yes he had a name) thought Betsy made a more convenient sacrifice, loaded her on his tractor and drove her down to the altar of sacrifice. It was a busy day for the priests, so he slipped in unnoticed in a brown priestly robe.

"Oh God, please accept Betsy, a worthy sacrifice," he muttered earnestly, as it thundered in the gloomy skies. So up in a great puff of smoke went the Betsy without a moo, and off in a huff went Farmer Brown with nary a boo.

Nobody knew what Farmer Brown went home to that day, for it was rumoured that lightning had licked up the entire farm. But till this very day, Farmer Brown walks the earth.

"Does the church need my obsolete 386?"

"I've no need for these flea-infested sofas, perhaps the church office could use it in some way..."

"I've just installed a new carpet. Perhaps I can donate the ripped up one to charity."

"I can spare the old rickety bookshelf... perhaps the orphanage could use it."

Or closer home :
"The Salvation Army could use these few cans of condensed milk. Yes, I know they've expired but within one month can still eat one. After all, charity leh, what you expect?! I can throw in dustbin one leh."
