Am I suaku or what? Today I flipped open a tabloid newspaper and discovered that there're actually farms where animals are bred solely for their organs! Great snakes - where have I been all these years! Since they performed the first organ transplant, there must have been some progress made in that field!

For that matter, since genetically engineered food, since cloned Dolly, since cloned human embryos... the earth must have been spinning. Pandora's box was opened, and I forgot and was too busy with my boring Singaporean life of study, graduate, work, holiday, save money, get married, have kids - wait not yet. We're still happily DINK.

Whatever happened to the Human Genome Project? [wait... does google search]Aaargh! A search tells me that they've completed it in 2003! When I first read about it in my school library in 1993, this project was in its early stages! Eeep! But cool!

Back to my transplant story... a Singaporean Doggy got a kidney transplant : a first-of-its-kind in Singapore.. Some law stipulates that the owners are to adopt the donor animals after 'harvest'. How useful THAT'll be if Doggy underwent a change of heart instead!

The above eerily reminds me of "The Island" [which I watched only recently.. argh!] where human clones were referred to as "products" and "insurance policies". They are conditioned to live in blissful ignorance of their true purpose in life - to be harvested and then cruelly terminated.

If that's our future, it's simply too bizarre to mull over. I'll just go about my own life now and perhaps we'd run out of oil first. Or perhaps the ozone layer will go poof first. Or perhaps that black hole lurking in our galaxy will swallow our sun. Or some madman will blow the earth up in WWIII. Or cute aliens in tripods will invade after an octagonal piece of sky drops and hits Shrek.

Hey, there're too many competing possibilities waiting to happen. I feel better already. No, not really. To be really safe, let me check if there're clones in Revelations.
