I just want to remember a modern parable that was mentioned in class.

--
Once, a man saw a little boy carrying a cage of a few sick-looking birds. The little boy had an angry, determined look. The man stopped the boy and asked, "What are you going to do with the birds?"

"These are lousy, worthless birds. Of no value to me," the little boy replied, "I'm going to starve them, stomp on them one by one, and break off their necks!"

The man shook his head with compassion. "How much do you want for the birds? I'm willing to buy them from you."

The boy replied without missing a beat, "All that you have!"

The man gave the boy everything he had.

He had saved the birds. He will set them free. He opened the door of the cage, only to find the birds so used to the cage they've been trapped in that they refused freedom.
